The First Step
Call us for a Complimentary Initial Examination visit at 377-5522. Convenient appointment times are available in the morning, midday, and late afternoon. If you call after normal business hours, leave a message on our recorder with your name, phone number and best time of day to contact you. Our friendly appointment coordinator will contact you on our next business day to help you get scheduled.

Your First Visit
At your first visit to see Dr. Smith, we want to get to know you, and learn about your dental concerns and goals. We generally take a few photographs before Dr. Smith performs a thorough examination of your teeth, bone structure, and jaw joints. Sometimes a digital X-ray is taken at this appointment to gain additional information.

We aim to cover the most common questions we get from our new patients:

  • Do I need braces?

  • What are my treatment options?

  • When is the best time to start my treatment?

  • What kind of braces and appliances are available?

  • Do I need teeth taken out?

  • What are the costs involved & what payment options are there?

  • What kind of appointment do I need next?

  • Can I combine some appointments to get treatment started sooner?

Records Appointment:
When the timing is right to proceed with orthodontic treatment we will set up a records appointment to gather all of the information needed to develop a personalized treatment plan for you. The diagnostic records typically include digital photographs, digital x-rays, impressions (molds of the teeth), and updated examination information. This record of your starting condition is analyzed to help us decide together on what treatment option is best for you, and is used later in treatment to make comparisons to track our progress. If time permits this can be done at the initial examination appointment.

Treatment Planning Consultation:
A sit down consultation appointment is typically scheduled two weeks after the records appointment. This gives us an opportunity to discuss our findings, treatment options, and recommendations with as many members of the family as are interested. Even if someone else in the family has had orthodontic treatment in the past, we want to cover the specifics for your particular case. No two individuals have the exact same problem, so no two treatments are exactly the same. All of this will allow us to answer your questions about how orthodontic treatment can enhance your smile and dental health.

After you are fully comfortable with your choice of available treatments, we will schedule your appointments to start treatment.
